    Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship

    The Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship is a program of the Thomas J. Watson Foundation. The fellowship provides fifteen internships, mentoring, and enriched educational opportunities to promising New York City undergraduates with the goal of increasing their life choices and developing their capacity to make a difference in their own and others’ lives. Fellows receive paid internships for three consecutive summers. The internships will be closely supervised and provide challenging work from which one can learn. In the course of the program, interns (Fellows) are encouraged to sample work in at least two of three sectors: nonprofit organizations, government service, and private enterprise. Each internship lasts up to ten weeks. The stipend is $5,000 for the first summer and $6,000 for the second and third summers. Students must be registered in a liberal arts track, demonstrate competence in college work. The participating CUNY colleges are Baruch College, Brooklyn College, The City College of New York, College of Staten Island, Hunter College, John Jay College, Lehman College, and Queens College. Each invited college may nominate up to four candidates to be considered by the Citywide Selection Panel.

    Award / Eligibility Details:

    Candidates must be either second semester freshmen or sophomores at one of the ten invited colleges and must have at least four semesters of full-time academic work remaining after the term in which they apply. Candidates may not more than 25 years old on March 1st in the year of application.
