Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET)
Return to Fellowship SearchThe Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET) seeks to help enhance internationalization in Japan by promoting mutual understanding between Japan and other nations. The program also aims to improve foreign language education in Japan and to encourage international exchange at the local level by fostering ties between Japanese youth and foreign youth. There are three types of positions offered by the JET Program: Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs), Coordinator for International Relations (CIRs), and Sports Exchange Advisor (SEA). The application cycle for ALTs and CIRs takes place in the fall of each year and applicants must choose to apply for one or the other position (one individual cannot simultaneously apply for both positions). The number of SEA positions is extremely limited and is filled by a separate application process.
