CHCI Public Policy Fellowship Program
Return to Fellowship SearchCHCI (Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute) Public Policy Fellows will spend nine months working in Washington, D.C., with significant exposure to leaders in congressional offices, federal agencies, national nonprofit advocacy organizations, government-related institutes, and more—growing both personally and professionally during their fellowship experience. Fellows will immerse themselves in the legislative process, spending four days each week learning all facets of public policy. On Fridays, Fellows partake in a full day of leadership development centered on CHCI’s four Pillars of Leadership—Civic Engagement, Social Responsibility, Self Empowerment, and Promoting Community and Hispanic Culture. The weekly programming will also prepare Fellows to fully understand policy issues facing the Latino community and how to propose effective solutions by critically examining all sides and implications of these issues. In addition to a salary, Fellows will also receive domestic round-trip transportation to Washington, DC; Health Insurance Coverage; and optional short-term housing.
Award / Eligibility Details:
The CHCI Public Policy Fellowship Program requires that an applicants’ degree be conferred within two years of the prospective start of the program. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, asylees, or individuals who are lawfully authorized to work full-time without restriction for any U.S. employer and who, at the time of application, possess lawful evidence of employment authorization. Note: Individuals who are seeking consideration under the “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival” (DACA) policy must possess an Employment Authorization Document at the time of application. All individuals are welcome to apply. However, preference will be given to individuals with financial need. Family members of CHCI Board or Advisory Board Members are prohibited from participating in any of CHCI’s charitable programs (e.g., scholarships, internships, etc.). Applications by such family members will not be considered.
